After watching
SG-
CHN TT match, i was reminded of my
TT days(I don't know whether to continue). I wonder how a
malay like me could end up in this sport, a
chinese sport.
Ohh i remember, my mum didn't want me to get into deep
shito by joining injury-
proned sports (soccer). So i resorted joining
TT during
Pri 3 and was kinda hooked since then.
Before that was symphonic band and I know nuts about reading notes(
taugeh I call it). I would try to steal glances at how my partner(
julian, still
rmb) would position the trombone sliding bar thing at different notes or I'll just rely on my ears to figure out different keys. Yea
lah, trombone has no visible positions for different notes. Furthermore, the trombone section will be at the very back, no where near the limelight. But at the end of the day, got degrade to the percussion section, where we've to learn all the different funny-noise-making instruments. yea ALL. I thought we've to master an instrument or something. So ditched s. band for
TT, never regret at all.
Oh yea, did I mention that
TT has no injuries at all?
Pfft, wrong oh. My mother just reminded me of this. During one friendly match, I got a bruised nose. Well, it was because of Edmund(doubles team mate). When it was his turn, he drives his hand back and accelerates it into my nose bridge. I
should've move away, but maybe it was suppose to happen,
lol. Continued game, went back home and sister was worried and called my mum from work and told her, "
MAK,
ZAKI GOT BEATEN UP BY SOMEONE"
And it's funny how I get to communicate efficiently with my coaches, as most of them are from, yes, China. He'd use hand signal, shadow puppet presentation, mooing, until I realise, "
ohh, train backhand"
Ahh kelakarTT was competitive, but it was fun. Camps, all the
lian he
zao bao cup
lah,
davindher singh cup
lah, being umpire for some
tournaments, and the c.school team and so many more. Made so many friends, and yea, it's a cool experience.
These are just a few things that I wanna say about my experience being a paddler. It's a pity I take very little
TT photos and such... Pictures do bring those memories to life.
