"The malay boys from Marco Polo were very nice"
OBS was powerpack. Well, it was mainly due to the great great company I had there. Pitching up tents and trekking wouldn't be fun without the company. Yeap, all of them, especially from Marco Polo and Nila Utama = Nico. And ofcourse Raleigh and Raffles. The other watches was gereekkk too, but Raranilo was ever gerekkk.
Well the first day kicked off with us, without the instructors, managing our cheer in a circle. Yup, we haven't even officially start the camp and Khairul, from Juying, and our very own YK and some of us lead the whole gang there in the hall with different cheers and off all things, school songs. That's how enthu we were. Saw a number of recognizable faces, from the whole gang of BPGH especially. But they were a little quiet, but still, gerekkk.
Hmm, I'm still tired after the camp, guess I'm OBS-sick. Hah, I shall write my journal which I wrote there, uncut, unedited :)
Day 1
Hello Journal
Now I'm in the "gathering hall" where all of the students participating in OBS gathered. We did our own sort of party by ourselves, without the trainers. For the first day's activity, we had kayaking. The briefing went for a while which leads us to have a shorter time for kayaking. Despite that, not only we learned the fundamentals of kayaking, but also, we learned that the only cause and ahrm to us were ourselves actually. Oh ya, I forgot, we gathered at the Punggol Jetty before the whole thing, being a stranger to other school's students and instructors. But our enthusiasm were taking the better of us, still. We assigned the roles and I'm the Sea Exploration Leader, woo hoo. In the eveing we had learned how to pitch a tent and it was good. We lost some things then. But we were more organized by then. We learned that have to be more indepentdant and initiative. I hope to make it safe to Day 5
Day 2
Okay journal, we got no much time left as we're heading for kayaking around this island. Day 2 was "slack" day. We carried our bags and hurried to Camp 2 where the environment was much better, really. We pitched our tents much much faster. We couldn't really unpack our heavy bags. So we did lots of fun activities like the Cat and Mouse, we lose, and the Key Punch game, we won. Go Marco Polo! We bonded really well with the other group, Nila. Oh man, its raining and my ink's smudging. It was raining but the instructors were spontaneous enough. We didn't get to hunt. Thus we had catered food for dinner. And we had this Zoom Game which we took 56 minutes to do. Yea, the briefing went quiet long. As a start as a sea exploration leader, we assigned people to different boats, the Tri-Yak. Red bean soup for supper, and we packed and we bathed and slept at about 12am. The skills from yesterday were very useful. I got no time to write on my aspiration, hopes, fears and those quirky stuffs as Iz's here, Bye! Oh Hoi
Day 3
Now I'm at the commitment and challenge park. Yesterday was a fullfilling and satisfying day. We woke up, unpitched our tents and straight away got ready for tour kayaking. The situation was horrendous as we got things missing. As the leader, I had to work and instruct my fellow Marco-Polians to make things happen. After which, we went to the cafeteria for one last catered meal, our frequent morning circle, got briefed for the capsizing things and I headed to the far right as I was the right kayak person. But then, there were a few people left behind. Some of us changed seats. Oh wait, there's a beautiful dragonfly beside me. Oh my, it flew. Anyways, I exchanged with Nazrul to become the sweeper. I could see our marvelous, sometimes, diamond formation. There's one part which we had to carry our boats to cross a bridge and swamp and that's when we, the leaders, had to come up with our own traffic person and system to carry those boats. There was this once, Khairul's legs were injured and we decided to exchange boats in the middle of the sea, as to share manpower. But then, it was a few yards to go, yeap, through determination and perseverance, we made it. It was damn tiring 12.2km kayaking for 6-7 hours. MUSCLES. Today we'll be going to have our land expedition. I can't wait. Okay, let me sleep first.
Day 4
Time pass so fast when we are having fun. It's already the last day. The team is well bonded with Iz himself. I was writing this journal alone for the past 3 days and now, I'm with the group. Yeap, I feel safe and good with Marco Polo. We woke up early last night. We set for trekking about 12.5km. My legs were numb but still, there's this something inside me that boost me to just walk and walk. We stopped at Mamam or something to see the boar and rabits. I realise that Ubin has lots of dogs and there's actually people living here. After which, we rested and cheer and sing like mad. Then we rested and eat dinner and Iz made us apple crumb
Yea, I stopped there and joined the others with their jokes and all. Ohh man, I'm missing each and every single part of the camp and the people. Well, like Iz said, don't remember the camp because of the instructors and the watch, remember it as a whole learning experience you'll need for the real world.
Lots of funny moments, tiring moments, us cheering, singing, Alif's doing the robot dance(Poppin') I got so so much to write. Song of the Camp: Jennnyyy, Motto of the Camp: Obs whatt.. I'll share those really funny and enjoyable times next time.
