I realized that Ibrahim's write-up on the camp was much much more specific and elaborated. Soooo, I didn't seek his permission but I would still paste his write-up here ;P Don't mind if I do:
Yeah! I made it back to Singapore safe and sound from my camp at Jerantut, Pahang.
DAY 1
Well it started when all the year 3's assembled at the school hall at 2.30pm on 23rd May to fill in the white card and also listen to a short briefing. The coaches assigned our chalets (I was the chalet leader of chalet number 37. My members are Shah, Hien Yew, Jun Hao, Eddy, Bryan and Karthik. Very deadly combination.) We set off for Tanjong Pagar Railway Station with mixed feelings. We boarded the train at around 6pm. My god, we were delayed by about an hour as my coach - Coach 9 - had a technical dificulty, air-con breakdown. I was feeling like 'is-there-any-other-worst-time-to-get-an-air con-breakdown'. Seriously, I was sweating buckets, wells and maybe reservoirs. In addition, my seat in the train was opposing motion and I did not get a chance to change seats as there were no extra seats. All I had to do was to sleep my misery off so that I will not feel giddy.
DAY 2
We arrived Jerantut at around 2am the next day. I was kind of relieved that we arrived there safely. We boarded the bus to Tekam Resort. We were then asked to rest. My chalet room was number 58 and after which have our breakfast, where the caterer forgotten about it (what the hell) but the quick-thinking coaches thought of buying food from the second canteen for us. One up for the coaches! We then rested again, falling which boys will be boys we played and locked Shah and Bryan out of the chalet. We made fun of them, for example, Jun Hao said that he was wearing Bryan's underwear. LOL. Later that day, we had a scrumptious lunch which was wonderful. My group, Group D set of for Kota Gelanggi for abseiling.
When we arrived, we had a briefing and Mr. DT was reprimanded because he tried to tie KL's rope to the carribina his way, which was wrong. Here is how it goes:-
Mr. DT: The rope is not tied properly.
The other instructors ignored.
Mr. DT: The rope is not tied properly.
He stepped up and adjusted the knot.
Ah Teng (Head Instructor): Stop. Stop!
Ah Teng: I am the instructor here. You listen to what I say, OK?
Mr. DT: OK.
At that moment, DT face turned red because he 'paiseh'. All of us we like 'Serve you right'. Mr. DT's ego will get the worst out of him. Before abseiling, we had to go through a stimulation. The lame part is that where around 100 students, and we had to practice through 2 poles and we only had 2 hours to do so. In the end, only less than 15 students get to abseil down the magnificent natural rock structure. Well, I wasn't the lucky one. We feedback this incdent to the coaches and they have thought of a better way.
We then set of back to the chalet where on board the bus, the 3H students sang a wonderful song and it goes like this:-
There was a stream,
Just a teeny, weeny, little stream,
And the stream was on its way,
And the moon shines high in the clear blue sky,
And all was bright and gay
Then they added extras to the song and it went this far:-
Now on that worm,
There was a little fish,
Just a teeny, weeny, little fish,
And the fish was on the worm,
and the worm was on the string,
and the string was on the rod,
and the rod was on the boy,
and the boy was on the boat,
and the boat was on the rock,
and the rock was on the stream, a
nd the stream was on its way,
And the moon shines high in the clear blue sky,
And all was bright and gay
When we arrived back at Tekam, we were welcomed with the wonderful scent of.... FOOD. It was a buffet style and the workers there served you. Later, we had team building games and we had to create a poster and a cheer for our team. It was an interesting time and our artist, Hien Yew, drew a spider, and it looks real that even the instructors were looking at the magnificent work of art. After the programme, Mdm Zahara called all the Muslim boys to gather and solat berjemaah since it was malam Jumaat. She asked us to doa for the well-being of all the campers, Muslims or Non-Muslims. We had a very late night, around 12 am.
DAY 3
3I had a bad start. Most of us woke up late by 1 hour! We were being reprimanded by Mr. Goh and Mr. DT. We were lucky we got off with just that. The most interesting activity has arrived, White Water Rafting at Jeram Besu, though we had to go through 2 hours of journey first. Firstly, we did Flying Fox and oh gosh, the scenery from the peak of the drop was.... magnificent. We then did River Crossing where we had to cross a river with the help of a rope stretching from end to end. Following that we had lunch, which was uncomfortable as we had flies whizzing past us.
For White Water Rafting, we had to go through Water Confidence first, and as the name goes, to get confident with the water and rapids. In the middle of the rafting though, my stomach was giving me problem. We headed back to Tekam and we had our dinner seperately as the journey took us a while.
