In the early morning walk,With a bag pack on my beg,Na na na na na na na, (Forgotten this part)
I'm so far away from home,
And I miss my home sweet home,Na na na na na na na. (forgot again lah)And let the cold wind blow.
Let the cold wind blow,Let the cold wind blow,
Let the cold wind blow,
Let the cold wind blow,
I know, I know,You have to go,So hurry back home,Coz I miss you so.
And so, the camp ended just like that. Okay the "just like that" part is one tiring process. Did I mention that it was worth it and a hella fun?! Yes, it was. And my hyperness was sapped out of me. Yes, the previous 2 days were spent resting and resting and resting as I'll be needing the hype for numerous trainings, camps, remedials and you know the drift.
Erm, I'll be looking forward for the SL camp coz it's nearing, really nearing. And sia lah, there's this head of the SLs whom I received a call from. How honourable. About what? Later on, I shall mention upon it.
So, about the camp. I'll be putting it briefly as I'll be needing a whole thick encyclopedia-sized to write each and every single thing we did.
The first day was obviously the day when everyone was clueless about anything and everything. Assembled in hall. You know, the typical passport check, the white card, head count, those who's not in proper attire have to change quickly before the bus arrived and waiting for late-comers.
We arrived at Tanjong Pagar Railway Station on time. I heard that their Mee Rebus was UMPH, Powderful, Sedap GILE, Bonjour(?). Yes, I was eying the Mee Rebus but yea, teachers had been a barrier from enjoyment and Mee Rebus since dinosaur roamed this Earth. Ok so, we waited and board the train.
Humid's the word. Our coach, Coach 9, was sooooo warm, stuffy and humid as the aircon was not working. So, we made up our own cheer, the "Coach 9" cheer and everyone was as high as ever. The aircon was fixed and the journey continued. It took bout 9 good hours to Jerantut.
We reached Jerantut at 4-5am? Yea, I slept the train ride through except the part when our sponsored Mac dinner arrived. We settled in our chalets. Let me see, my chalet mates were: Xun Hao, Johnathan, Benedict, Qi Xiang, Hong Chiat and Kheng Ann. CHALET 58! Yes, one of the last few chalets. There's 60 chalets and yea, we have to walk all the way to this secluded place. Ohh yea... we were fortunate enough to get this well-sustained chalet which was free of bugs and those equipment faults. Others were begging to bath in our chalet but Johnathan, the man, was strict with Chalet 58's Rules and Regulations(as if there was like that). Hence, only Shah managed to take a bath in our chalet.
Enough about our chalet. First day was abseiling. Not those flat wall abseiling but rocky-mountain type of abseiling. I was intimidated by the instructor's fractured hand. He said that it was due to some irresponsible student bla bla bla. All in total, the abseiling was good and my hips and hands were burning due to the ropes. There's the normal lunch, dinner, team activities and back to chalet. Oh wait, Mdm.Zah requested for all the Muslims to take advantage of the Malam Jumaat by praying and hoping for security for the whole sec 3 cohort, including us, so that the camp would turn out well. It was 11.30 at night. There's about 20-40 of us? We settled at chalet 15 (I REMEMBERED) and prayed as a group, or as berjemaah you may say, led by Amin, Imam Amin. It's a gooooood feeling to pray with your batchmates and teachers you know. Yea, it was....
2nd day was superb as well. All those wet activities were gerek! Water confidence, jumping from the boulder to the quick water rapids, capsizing intentionally, flying fox across the river were great. But the best was white water rafting! The 6km paddling across this long freshwater river was tiring but the company was good. We did not compete for placing but we made a fool of ourselves yea.. We paddled fast, waited for the other raft to catch up, sprayed water at them, paddled fast again and the cylce continues. Yea, it was supppperrrrbbb. And I discovered a self proclaimed Sea Monster ;)
3rd day was the most "mind-and-physically" challenging. We settled in this port to ride those motorboats or something like that (I didn't pay much attention) to the 3 stations.
We went to this cave called Gua Telinga (Ear Cave) and ventured it. Oh gosh, it was a painful experience. I had to bend as close as 360 degree just to get across some parts. Plus, I didn't bring along a head-light, instead I brought this torchlight which I had to hold all along. I was disabled with one hand. It was dark. And yes, there were bats. And when there were bats, there were bats poo. It was gruesome, smelly, hideous. Even Batman won't hire these bats I tell you. But I gotta say, the bats were friendly fruit bats which did not bully strangers. Anyways, the surroundings in the cave were limited. I thought that I could brisk walk across the cave but I was wrong. I sat, laid, twisted and all those weird movements. Now my back hurts because of this. In short, I made it across, painstakingly. Then, the instructors asked some of us to wait at the ending point of the cave to help the others. And after the last person, Mr.DT, went out, we headed for canopy walk.
The canopy walk was, by far, the not-that-troublesome one. It was okay. What harm can one gets just by walking across a small bridge in a middle of a jungle? Bee stings. Yes, bee stings. Xun Hao received a leech bite as a souveneir. And lots received weird stings from unknown insects as a consolation. I received nothing, yes nothing! Phew, what a relief. And I learned that insects repellant attracts bees due to some reaction. And and leeches are helpful creatures too. They destroy your epidermal cells and suck your juicy, sweet blood and at the end of the day, they'll fixed back your skin cell and it's all good. But for Xun Hao, the leech went away half-way through, thus, it left his leg bleeding.
Rapid shooting was thhhheeee BOMB. Now I know why we were not allowed to bring any electronic equipments to the boat. We would be wet. No wait, SOAKED. The Malaysian boat people poured and sprayed water at us like no ones business. And so, we did the same. And the teachers supported them, surprisingly. Once, Mr.DT turned around, saw me being soaked and sprayed all over and and he laughed like one hyeena. It was fun for both teachers and students. And wait, I gotta say that Malaysian instructors were much better than SG instructors. Not being a rebel again but its true. We received more freedom as in we could swim far more deeply, do those dangerous activities and stunts even if it means our safety is vunerable and etc. That's what a camp is all about right... I won't expect myself to be holy-ly clean after a camp. As for SG instructors, this cannot, that cannot, saying that we might be in danger or so. Yade yade yade...
So, we finished the last day's activities and bought the nearby mini cafe's Kueh Teow as a form of celebration. It was gooooood. Yea, and all 3Ians settled in chalet 35 to rehearse for our campfire items. It was supposed to be a skit on "Sea Monster", a cheer and our very own 3I version of Sexy Back, "Pahang Back". Okay so, we practiced and it was raining. No campfire? Yea... very dissapointing. But still we practiced and the other chalets were bombing each other with cheers and all. The buses came and we headed for this dining hall which I didn't discover until that fateful day.
We had dinner and the normal filling up of the survey. Mdm.Zah gave this You-better-do-your-survey-properly-ah-after-all-the-5-months-of-planning look. Did I mention that my food was soaked with rainwater? LOL. Ohh nvm... long story.
And wait, the best part was that a group of us, about 10, including me, were unfortunate enough as our bus to Jerantut's train station was delayed. The other buses left without us. The timing was tight as we had only 15 mins before the train came and left. If we made it, which was most unlikely, we will be okay... but, if we didn't make it, we would have to stay in Pahang for another day. Mr.G's face was sweating thinking,"How should I answer these boys' parents?" Like another Cinderalla story, we made it. Why? The train was delayed, for 1 hour that is. And they lived happily ever after.
The waiting for the train was spent by emo-ing and sleeping. And the train ride was another different story. Cheering and bombing to each other. "BB bomb, BB bomb, BB bomb to Table Tennis Bomb" I was the only paddler in my coach and my soft, innocent voice squeeled, "Ping Pong bomb, Ping Pong bomb, Ping Pong bomb to NP bomb" and it continues and continues, for 12 solid hours, till we reached Singapore. Okay, most of the time, I slept.
The story didn't end there. We reached SG at about 3pm and I've got a movie to watch at 5pm. What the. I took a taxi home with Xun Hao, bathed, change and went to Cineleisure to watch POTC. The waiting for thetaxi was a torture. Almost everyone was waiting for a taxi which resorted us to use our inactive brain and go to some other place to wait for a taxi. The sun was torching at us sia...
Despite those rushing and all, I was late by 30 mins. I made the Eugene, Cobe, Xun Hao, KL and his brother late for 30 mins. We went in the theatre everyone gave us the Faster-sit-u-late-comers,-you-guys-are-disturbing-us look. And we watched, watched and slept. I was so friggin tired that my eyes were half closed throughout the movie. Same goes for the others. I managed to catch the storyline though. I gotta say, POTC was draggy and all mushy with love scenes but there's a twist, just waiting for you.
Okay, I'll rest for now. Oh wait, I'll post the pics of the camp at another post. What a long post, phew.
