Random: It's cool lah. (Khalis)EHEH, I shall not talk about the exams. Not because I did not do well but I prefer keeping it to myself yea.
Strict hiatus, no more for this year's exam. It feels weird. Yea, sec 2 was simpler to handle but comes sec 3, silence.
4 History - Funeral For A Friend

Dear friends of this academy
Oh, Romeo is bleeding to death..
To see a friend bleed to death
What for, some kind of metaphor
That I can't see..
So I'll drink until I see it.
This sky will make me sick,
So I'll give up on you,
I'll give up on this.
This sky will make me sick.
So I'll give up on this,
I'll give up on you.
[Chorus]
Archers in your arches,
Raise your fingers for one last salute..
And bleed this skyline dry
Your history is mine.
So you want to hold me up and bring me down?
Yes, you want to hold me up and break me down
I don't care for your sweet scent
Or the way you want me more than I want you.
I don't care for your sweet scent
Or the way you want me more than I want you.
[Chorus x2]
It's all mine.. it's all mine.. it's all mine...
[Chorus x2]
I can't stand reflecting upon the nicer and meaningful songs which I heard. So, I shall start reviewing songs yea.
Let me introduce you to Funeral For A Friend. Some might hear about them before, but most wouldn't coz it's not a mainstream band. Maybe a little but it does not get over exposed in MTV or what. This song is from their latest album, "Hour" and the songs in there are basically rebelling songs which do come to senses.
Okay, about the song. Firstly, the song might sound like a love song with those jiwang[desperate love(?)] phrases but it's not and it's not a dark song either. Surprisingly, it refers to the inequal way of the system of the government towards the humbler citizens. This is one of the few songs which dared to go against the issues of the government and they did it. I had to give them the credits coz there's no way you can do this here in Singapore coz Singapore is a "Fine Country".
Anways, the first stanza's is simply calling for all the citizens not to sit down helplessly while the government push them around. The main phrases are: Dear friends of this academy Oh, Romeo is bleeding to death..To see a friend bleed to death What for, some kind of metaphor. This refers to them citizens not to sit at their couch helplessly while seeng those daring ones, Romeo, going against the government through strikes and risking their lives.
The Pre-Chorus, 2nd stanza, is about how the people are freaking sick of being pushed around and sick towards the government system which is the "sky". And finally, after much unfair and "torturous" treatment of the government, they'll had enough and give up on them government and their situation they're in. This results their strike and the composing of this song.
So you want to hold me up and bring me down?
Yes, you want to hold me up and break me down
This refers to the government cunning way of bringing up the citizens emphasising on their own gain. The government would still hold them citizens up in cruel, unfair and whatever treatment to get the country going, and at the same time breaking the citizens morale and wellfare.
I don't care for your sweet scent
Or the way you want me more than I want you
"Sweet scent" is referring to the cruel way the government keeping the citizens working and working through wars, polices, physical treatment. inappropriate laws and the likes. So, it seems that the government is the one's desperate needing the people more than the vice versa eh?
And again, the chorus' calling out for people to give "one last salute" which refers to them jelling together and go on a last, superb riot against the government. Bleed the skyline dry refers to them rioters of not to let anything hinder them from striking which will lead to risking their life and shedding lots of blood. And lastly, Your History is mine refers to the government of abolishing their cruel way of ruling and start anew.
Okay, thats about it lah. Yea, this song has much much more meaning hiding behind those poetic phrases, I like. Don't deny it, this is one piece of great music, great rock.
Meaningful songs keeps me pondering which leads of me using more of my brain cells which will exercise it which will increase the capicity of my brain. Yay
I've got A Maths(Alamak Maths) to deal with. I'll leave you with this music video for this song yea, FREEDOM, MOTHER! FREEDOM!:
