What a Sick week. Not those dirty sick, but just those unwell sick sick. I had been sick throughout this week but I still managed to attend school, at least for 3 and a half days. I was sent to the sickbay numerous times, but the vice principal just had to send me back to class saying that it was best for me to attend lessons. Let's just agree with him.
I could not afford to miss any of the days of the week as there were bountiful amount of important stuffs like prize giving, debate, major tests and yea, all the fun I would be able to get. But noo.. most of it must be squished into one day, friday, the day I was absent. My plan for friday was to complete E Maths and Chem Test, enjoy the rest of the day, go to fun HMT lessons, attend prize giving ceremony which will end late at night, and party or go to orchard or what after that for the rest of the night. But nooo... I have to be sick.
Yes, I was sick, but I managed to debate. If anyone noticed, my eyes were red and my voice was a little coarse while I was debating. But heck, nothing would stop me. The debate was okay, fun. It was more to drama than debate. I was the last opposition speaker. Save the best for last? I was inspired after seeing each speaker from both teams going up one by one, and that boost up my confidence. Yea. I love being the last man. This will allow me giving a sudden wake up to the dead audience. And, I would leave a legacy, like the Student's Leader motto, Bla bla bla bla bla.. what Legacy. I just know theres the word legacy there.
Anyways, yea, when people hear the word "debate", they would often say "It's one of those boring legal arguments dumb people make on the stage." So, why not let's put humour on my speech? And let the audience and the judges feel more comfortable and closer to home as humour is something related to them. You know, when your friends are debating, he will often change into a fierce alien creature and that won't make you feel comfortable. Yea, so why not be one of the first human to be a comedian a.k.a debater on stage?
Yea, I went where most debaters didn't survived going. I sang! woohooo! It's just a great feeling to interact with the audience. Yea, imagine if I talk with profound english and marvelous vocabulary, the audience will go " ". Yea, silence. So at least I'd made the debate much more enjoyable. At least I think I do. Next stop, Singapore Idol! yea woo!
Okay the main highlight wasn't 3I nor 3H, okay maybe it was 3I because we won! all the notes, research, Mr. Mah Bao Tan and all the time we had wasted to get this damn small prize. Haha. But it's the thought that counts right. It was a great feeling to know that we've won! I managed to out-wit Sundram! my own fellow 2G-er who won the Story Telling and the Martin Luther King Speech thing. Phew.
I think it takes the judges a hard time to pick the best speaker. Honestly, the preposition and opposition all had good speakers. And you must be agreeing to. But a good speaker does not mean the speaker who managed to make most laugh, a speaker who's able to criticise others points, a speaker who have the most drama. But it's the speaker with the most confidence, fluent and managed to potray his point well.
And, I have to agree with the judges, Shah's the one who deserve it. Although I'm dissapointed that I didn't get the title, I have to admit that he's the better speaker among all of us. Face it, he is the better speaker, and all of you who is rebelling on this, try and speak infront of the whole senior cohort. If I or anyone else who was to get it, it will mean nothing to me, coz I'm not going to be anything related with debating in the future. Rebelling on this is just being sellfish. So if anyones who's rebelling, just give this guy a break. I'm happy for him, and if Shah's reading this, congrats!
Okay the main highlight was 2G! yea, you guess it, 2G! Imagine debating against one of your closer 2G mate. It would be fun! Yea, Sundram and Me was doing our 2G thang and made the audience laugh. I don't know lah, it's in our blood. Haha. Seriously, it was fun seeing your ex-classmate standing infront, being your opponent and make everyone laugh. Yea, now, you feel the 2G vibe? We can make you laugh all you want! Some peoples "fun" is going to posh shopping centre, going to lan gaming, going to gigs, but OUR's, 2G, "fun" is just being around each other. just give a concrete horizontal plane and we will have fun babae!
All in all, the debate was satisfying. It was a good fight. Close fight. Hence, the title of for being the champions of the inter-class debate means more. Imagine if you or the opponent did not give a good fight, no matter if you win or lose, it won't mean anything. Yea, I'm satisfied.
Wait wait, the aftermath of the debate needs mention. There's this one short guy who keeps on running around with a card which says "3I sucks!" After I say, "You all put up a good fight" and all those encouraging statements, this guy still walks around like a maniac with the card. Man, someday, if this gets too way overboard, I'll need to teach this guy one painful lesson. He doesn't get it, doesnt he. From the begining of the year, he had been saying "3I sucks." It's like he have this vision that his class and our class are gonna be sworn enemies or what. OR OR it's like he have this oath before he start the year saying, "I will be loyal to my class, try my best to destroy other classes, and will not pronounce S properly" Seriously, he cant pronounce S. So, his "3I sucks" will be "3I suckafadfa". Man oh man, one word, loser. So, if anyone of my fellow 3Ians who feel threatened by this shortie, don't hesitate and give him a whip. Or just direct him to the Chong a.k.a Team Captain of 3I, Zaki. Yea, you heard me.
Okay, now imagine if he won, how would he be? "3I sucks more"? if he really does that, man oh man, that really gets on my nerves.
Yea, I know that it is a bad feeling after losing, especially after having high hopes of winning. So, if he's reading this, don't ever underestimate your opponent. And please show some good sportmanship or debate ettiquettes. At least a "Good FIght" or
"Congrats". Yea, and don't spam my tagboard.
Urgghh
But but, majority supported and congratulated us. Thats the good thing. THANKS MAN! it's a good feeling to know that people appreciate your hard work with a simple "congratulations" Thanks guys! yea, and I wanna thank our opponents for giving a good fight and sportmanship. yea, THANKS. but not that shortie.
Like Mr.Giam said, it's always the minority that makes things worst. Yea, and this guy and company is the minority who's making things worst. Who's creating unhealthy class rivalries. And I'm sure he knows that lots of people "adores" him. So, change the habit, for goodness sake.
People who might feel hurt after reading this, I'm sincerely sorry.
But if its that shortie, go to bed and cry all you want. And improve on your pronounciation on S, At least you can pronounce "sucks" properly. I'm helping you, sucker.
I can be mean when I'm furious. But hey, I'm still jovial babae!
